Lizhong Dai, Member of the National People’s Congress, attended the 142nd session of IPU and delivered a keynote speech as a representative of China.
On the evening of April 26, Beijing time, the 142nd session of IPU Meeting of the Standing Committee on Peace and International Security was held online. Parliamentarians from more than 100 countries and representatives of some international organizations participated in the meeting and discussed the topic of “Global Cooperation in Overcoming the Pandemic”. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. J. Echániz, the chairman of the meeting and the Spanish congressman, briefly introduced the theme of the meeting – “Overcoming the pandemic today and building a better tomorrow: the role of parliaments”. The representative of the International Atomic Energy Agency introduced the global pandemic prevention and control situation, along with the role of the agency in the global fight against the epidemic.
During the meeting, Lizhong Dai, member of the National People’s Congress, delivered a speech as the first group of representatives in the world. So far, China has provided practical support to more than 160 countries and international organizations around the world, and is urgently providing needed vaccines to more than 100 countries and international agencies, fulfilling its solemn commitment to the world.
At the meeting, Lizhong Dai shared China’s successful experience in handling COVID-19 pandemic, that was the “Four Early Strategy”, namely early discovery, early reporting, early isolation, and early treatment.
